ECO-Certification

ECO-Certification

EL724 certification can be obtained when using biodegradable resin products that are biodegradable, available at no cost, and do not require separate disposal.

ASTM-D6954

ASTM-D6954

Environmental certification awarded to products that have undergone an evaluation of Korean environmental industry technology, as specified by the Environmental Technology and Environmental Industry Support Act, and received suitability assessment by the Minister of Environment in accordance with the prescribed procedures.

Purpose of the test

Test methods that can be used to compare the molecular weight range of biodegradable plastics, as well as the thermal oxidation degradation rate and extent of plastic materials.
Test methods used to compare the degradation rate of polymers due to thermal and photo-oxidation processes, as well as the extent of physical property loss, not only for biodegradability and ecological impact.

Principle

Tier 1 Tier 2 Tier 3 You can divide the test into three stages.

Tier 1
Heat and photooxidation processes, non-biological processes: Accelerate degradation and may occur in disposal environments. The range of humidity or moisture content should be included.
The degradation rate measured at typical oxidation temperatures is necessary to compare and rank polymers evaluated in chosen applications to reach molecular weights that constitute provable biodegradable residues.
When applied to soil, the local temperature and humidity range can vary significantly depending on the geography and must be considered.
It should be verified that the polymer does not undergo a phase change such as the glass transition temperature (Tg) within the test temperature range.
Tier 2
Biodegradation measurement : Residues resulting from oxidation are exposed to appropriate treatment or the standard biodegradation recognition test methods' usage environment to measure the rate and extent of biodegradation caused by oxidation.
Tier 3
Acceleration measurement of characteristics and molecular weight loss through ecological assessment.
* Using data generated in Tier 1 assessments and the determined biodegradation times in the selected environment (Tier 2), this guide allows ranking in comparison to other polymers evaluated under similar environmental conditions.
